UAE needs fund for treating drug addiction
The UAE needs a national fund for the management, treatment and control of drug addiction in the country, according to a study by the Abu Dhabi Police, reports the UAE's official news agency WAM. "The fund will create a national comprehensive date base to identify the true scale and scope of the addiction phenomenon," said the study entitled 'Criminal handling of addicts: punishment and treatment.' According to the study, the local community should raise funds for supporting the mission of the fund.
Mustafa Al Taher, the author of the study said that those convicted should be given stringent sentences. "Addicts should also be given wide access to treatment and continue on it," he added.
