BLOG: Animal Magnetism: Quit smoking for Fido and Fifi's sake, too [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

Nov. 19--Today the American Cancer Society, American Veterinary Medical Association [http://www.avmamedia.org/display.asp?sid=209&tid=207&NAME=Kick_the_Habit,_for_You_and_Your_Pets]and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association [http://www.wvma.org/]are all encouraging Americans to participate in the Great American Smokeout Challenge.

According to the WVMA, the harmful effects of smoking are not only felt by friends and family members, but by America's pets, too. Lung cancer and nasal cancer are particularly threatening to dogs while cats that live with smokers are twice as likely to develop malignant lymphoma--fatal to three out of four cats within a year--and are more likely to get mouth cancer.
