Bellingham psychiatrist re-appointed to board [The Bellingham Herald, Wash.]

Feb. 21--Henry S. Levine was recently re-appointed chair of the Psychopharmacology Committee for The American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

Levine has practiced psychiatry in Bellingham since 1979. In addition to seeing patients, he sub-specializes in forensic psychiatry, assisting lawyers, judges and penal systems in understanding how psychiatric disorders affect people. He maintains a general psychiatric practice, specializing in mood, anxiety and attention disorders.

The Psychopharmacology Committee of the AAPL is responsible for educating members of the organization on updated research and thinking on the use of psychoactive medications and the legal implications.

VOLUNTEERS RE-ELECTED TO WECU BOARD

Three volunteers were re-elected to three-year terms at Whatcom Educational Credit Union.

Bruce Burpee and David Waschke will continue to serve WECU's membership on the board of directors and Kay Rich was re-elected to serve on the supervisory committee.

Bruce Burpee has been a part of WECU's board of directors since 1989, David Waschke since 1992 and Kay Rich since 2001. Dale Zender was elected to the board of directors. Zender is employed by PeaceHealth, Whatcom Region, as the regional vice president of finance and the organizational integrity officer.

GALBRAITH JOINS PACIFIC SURVEY

Pacific Surveying and Engineering, an employee-owned civil engineering, land surveying and environmental solutions firm, has added David Galbraith, to its ownership team.

Galbraith joins Jeff Vander Yacht, Barry Unema, Adam Nelson, Adam Morrow, and Peter Brands as a shareholder in the Bellingham-based firm.

Galbraith is a professional civil engineer experienced in urban infrastructure design, low impact development, storm water management, and construction contract administration. He adds seven years of civil engineering and project management experience to the ownership group, which now consists of three professional land surveyors and three professional engineers.

TUMMY HEAVEN'S MIKLAVIC CERTIFIED

Carolyn Miklavic completed her National Certification as a Colon Hydrotherapist in December.

MURRY CHIROPRACTIC PLANS OPEN HOUSE

Murry Chiropractic & Associates is having an open house to welcome new staff member Dylan Semu and to celebrate the promotion of Sheryl Correll to manager of its massage and acupuncture program.

Semu received his Bachelors of Science degree in physiology from the University of Auckland in New Zealand and his Master of Chiropractic degree at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Semu held a private practice in New Zealand for more than five years and is proficient in a wide-range of adjustive techniques, with a specialty in structural adjusting.

Correll has been a massage therapist for 17 years. She is a graduate of the Seattle Massage School and a past instructor and program coordinator of the Whatcom Community College Massage Program and Ashmead College in Everett. With three years of experience as the National Surf Kayak Team massage therapist, she specializes in injury treatment as well as wellness massage.

The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. There will be free chair massage offered and a drawing for a free one-hour massage from a licensed massage therapist. Catering will be provided by Ciao Thyme catering.

THRIVENT'S WHITTLE HELPS REVIEW EXAM

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans financial representative Holly Whittle recently participated in a review of the items that will appear on upcoming exams administered by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. of Washington D.C.

Questions are reviewed before each exam to verify accuracy and to make any updates needed to comply with changes in law. Whittle participated in the review of exam questions related to insurance, estate and tax topics.

A resident of Bellingham, Whittle is a registered representative of Thrivent Investment Management Inc., a subsidiary of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Whittle serves Lutherans and their family members in her hometown and surrounding areas by providing financial guidance and solutions to help them achieve their financial goals.
